Los Angeles Surf Forecast - for Thursday - 3/11/2010

We will have fading NW windswell and some background WNW-NW/S-SW energy showing on Thursday. North County spots will stay pretty small with ankle-knee high surf for most spots and some inconsistent waist high sets at the standout breaks.

The South Bay will pull in more of the NW energy and can expect surf in the waist-chest high range for most areas with some chest-shoulder high+ sets at the standouts. Looks biggest in the morning (once the tide drops off)…and then gets smaller through the afternoon as the windswell fades out.

Look for NE winds around 10-15 knots for the morning with the potential for some 20-25 knot gusts near the wind-prone passes and canyons. Those winds shift to the W-NW around 10-20 knots for the afternoon.
