Los Angeles Surf Forecast - For Monday - 1/11/10

The W-WNW swell winds down a bit on Monday but there will still be plenty of surf on tap for the exposed breaks. Average spots through N. LA will be in the chest-shoulder high range with some sets going head high…maybe head high+ at the best winter spots.

South Bay breaks will have a lot more direct exposure to this swell mix and we can expect a big jump in size as you move down the coast. Average spots through the South Bay will be shoulder-overhead on the sets while the standout breaks pull in some bigger sets that hit the several feet overhead range. Shape will be pretty walled and closed out but there may be something to break up the swell a bit if you hunt around.

Winds look good with light offshore flow on tap for the morning…maybe even moderately offshore near some of the passes and canyons. Look for the winds to increase and shift a little more onshore through the afternoon before possibly laying down again near the sunset.
