Los Angeles Surf Forecast - for Thursday - 1/28/2010

The overall WNW-NW swell mix backs down on Thursday…but a new little S-SSW swell starts to pulse up in the background. Expect smaller surf for most areas, but with a little more crossed up shape at the really good combo breaks. North LA will hold around knee-waist high with some inconsistent chest high sets. The South Bay will be more in the waist-chest high+ range with a few shoulder-head high sets still pushing into the top breaks as the tide drops to a more manageable level.

Light and variable to light offshore winds for the morning. Light winds, variable below 10-knots, will be on tap through midafternoon and then may back down a bit around sundown.
